Protecting the Mississippi River from a Proposed Nickel Mine Webinar + Q&A

Wednesday, December 11, 2024 - 5:30pm
Zoom

Join FMR and partner Water Over Nickel for a webinar on the potential consequences of the proposed Tamarack Mine.

What impacts could a proposed nickel-copper sulfide mine have on the Mississippi River? Register for this webinar to learn more about the potential risks.

The Tamarack Mine is a proposed nickel-copper sulfide mine that would be built in Tamarack, Minnesota, roughly 120 miles north of St. Paul, in the St. Croix and Mississippi River watersheds. No sulfide mine in the U.S. or Canada has operated long-term without polluting the watersheds.

FMR recently partnered with Water Over Nickel on a campaign to raise awareness about the potential negative consequences of this mine and risks to nearby communities, including the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.

Join us for the webinar and Q & A to learn more about the Tamarack Mine and what this could mean for the Mississippi River. The presentation and conversation will be led by Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Commissioner of Natural Resources Kelly Applegate.

This event will be recorded. Please register as well if you would like access to the recording.
